4bbie:

well, i don’t know the girl in the “don’t support fag marriages” picture, but i did come across this:

and i feel really bad that she’s getting so much hate for a simple misunderstanding. i’m not tumblr famous or anything, so this probably won’t go too well, but i’m trying to get the word out because i feel bad for this girl. thanks

In addition to essentially inventing the computer, Alan Turing also broke the German Enigma Code during World War II which paved the way for the D-Day invasion. The man was a hyper-genius. I’ve read descriptions of his work by mathematical physicist Sir Roger Penrose. He’s been a hero of mine ever since.
The level of thought required to come up with the stuff he came up with is totally beyond my comprehension. I actually did not even know about his orientation until much later. He was prosecuted and ordered to undergo chemical castration. Soon thereafter, he committed suicide by eating a cyanide-laced apple.

The government forced him to take estrogen as a punishment (or “cure”?). He began to develop breasts and other side effects.
He committed suicide by biting into a cyanide laced apple. This is supposedly the inspiration for the name/logo of Apple computers.

When gays get so angry about a chicken sandwich, it is because Chick-fil-A has given around $5 million to fight to discriminate against us. When we praise brave Eagle Scouts who give up their badges in protest of the Boy Scouts of America’s prejudice, it’s not about scoring political points; it’s because there are kids in dens who are being taught to believe that they are less than equal. When we rant about the pastor who preaches that gays should be thrown into a concentration camp, we scream out of fear. And our fears are justified — in the last seven days, a lesbian in Nebraska was carved with a knife, a gay man in Oklahoma was firebombed, and a girl in Kentucky was kicked and beaten — her jaw broken and her teeth knocked out — while her assailants allegedly hurled anti-gay slurs at her. by

Conor Gaughan - “We Are Not Arguing Over Chicken” (Huffington Post)

And, I’m 100% positive the attackers go to church on Sunday. People, Jesus would never do this. If you call yourself a Christian and you attack gay/lesbian people, then you’re kinda missing Jesus’ whole love message.

Dear 95%+ of straight people who refer to themselves as “supporters of gay rights”

treebeardoffangorn:

  • Y’all think marriage is the be all end all
  • Y’all forget about trans folks
  • Y’all still using offensive slurs for parts of the queer community in your humour
  • Y’all actually ain’t doing a fly’s dick worth of good for any of us.
  • But pat yourself on the back some more
  • You deserve being congratulated for being a decent human being.
  • Not wanting us dead is such an achievement
  • No
  • You really don’t deserve anything.
  • just stop.

This is an example of what I hate.
Being against gay marriage does not mean homophobia. A lot of people are against it because of their religion, but think about that for a minute.  Why is that religion against it?  The Gods of many religions know a great deal more than we do, and can see problems we don’t see.  Could it be that same-sex marriage is simply not ideal?  It’s possible to be against same-sex marriage, and not be homophobic.

Did you not see that the entire premise of this chart is to show why people think being gay is sinful and thus wrong for them to marry? This whole entire chart is debunking every single reason why people would be against it for “religious reasons”.
Also, if you are against gay marriage, then you are anti-gay. Just try and convince me otherwise.

When I posted this chart a minute ago, I didn’t realize it was already going around Tumblr. Oops. Anyways, this^ is a beautiful takedown. If you are against marriage equality, then you want to deny rights to people because of their sexuality, and that is homophobia. Sorry not sorry. If you’re against gay marriage you’re a homophobe. You can dress it up however you want, however you need to justify yourself that your decision is rational and not at all based on a faulty understanding of a religious text, but that doesn’t make it true.
