The Beatles were, of course, of working class background and the working class is generally pretty aware that you DO need money to get on in the world.
PS Generally I try to stay away from making pronouncements on the Working Classes, as I am not a member of it, but this is the opinion of my father who pulled himself out of the working class.

John: Us
Interviewer: Do you date much?
Ringo: What are you doing tonight?
Interviewer: The French have not made their mind up about the Beatles. What do you think of them?
Paul: Oh, WE like the Beatles, they`re gear!
Interviewer: How do you feel about teenagers imitating you with Beatle wigs?
John: They are not imitating us, because we don`t wear Beatle wigs.
Interviewer: Where'd you get the idea for the haircuts?
John: Where'd you get the idea for yours?
Interviewer: Paul, what do you expect to find here in Australia?
John: Australians, I should think.
Interviewer: How about you other guys, how do you feel about Ringo being nominated for president?
John: We think he should win. Definitely in favor.
George: Yes.
Interviewer: Would you make them part of your cabinet?
Ringo: I'd have to, wouldn't I?
George: I could be the door.
Ringo: I'd have George as treasurer.
John: I could be the cupboard.
Ringo: George looks after the money.
